Feelin' Myself

Hey Lovelies! I have definitely been MIA for a while. Lately, I have been contemplating continuing the blog or just making it outfit and hair posts only. Between two jobs, unforseen financial issues (just in time for X-Mas...geeez), and love troubles my plate has been overflowing. Yet, somehow, I still have time to look pretty. :-) This hair style started out as a super-defined bantu knot-out on lightly flat-ironed hair, but ended up as a poofy super fro due to the insane humidity that morning. It actually GREW as the day went on, but I dug it nonetheless.

Observe:

If it look like I am feelin' myself, it's cuz it's true!

Have a great week and Happy Holidays!!

Monday hair share

Check out my sexy puff! I did a braid out on damp hair and swept into a puff for work today. I used Tresseme Climate control conditioner as a leave-in and used Softee Stimulating Growth oil (see last week's post) to seal the moisture in.

Please excuse my shiny forehead and gratuitous footage of the bathroom in the background.

Gracias <3

YAY!

I see I have gained a few followers in the past few weeks! Thanks for thinking that my little musings are worth checking out every once in a while. :-) I started this blog as a casual virtual diary of sorts and I am happy for the outlet as well as the new friends that I have gained during this experience. In the spirit of Ren and Stimpy...Happy, happy, joy, joy!

Welcome!

P.S. I guess I might as well tell you my real name.

Show and Tell

Happy Thursday!

I have been a busy mofo for the past week but alla that hard work has definitely paid off. I will be starting a new job next Tuesday that I am over-the-moon about. It is at an amazing women's clothing comapany that is right up my alley. Although busy, I did manage to keep my beauty game tight!

Here is a snapshot of my roller set the other day. It turned out bouncy, silky, and strong. Sorry I only have this one pic as my arms were a wee bit tired after all of that rolling and detangling.

Products used for roller set:

Silicon Mix Leave-In
Creme of Nature Argan Oil Gloss and Shine Polisher
Grapeseed oil

I also went on an instant gratification trip to my favorite ghetto dollar store
down the street from my house. I cannot stress how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this color!
Don't sleep on dollar store nail polishes! I am going back this afternoon to pick me up a few more of these babies. I believe the brand is Santee.

Have you seen this brand before? I know I haven't, and I thank God that I did.

I am sooooo looking forward to this Fourth of July weekend. Time to throw on a sundress and enjoy an ice cold beer!

Adios! :-)

It's the end of the world as we know it, but if you're in San Francisco...

I know it's cheesy and predictable but I just had to post this song.

I KNOW you were thinking about it. Put on your your flannel shirt and scruffy waffle boots and prepare to go back in time.

I wonder how that dude who sold all of his stuff and spent $100,000 of his life savings is going to feel Sunday morning when we are all still here?

Anyways, here are some kewl things to do in the SF Bay Area tonight just in case the world does end:

Haight Street Hop @ Milk - 1840 Haight Street, San Francisco @ 9:30pm
If you are into the rockabilly scene, get yo dancin' shoes on and cut up tonight for only $5. It is a fun place to meet new people and step out in your sexy vintage dresses.

Hubba Hubba Revue @DNA Lounge - 375 11th Street, San Francisco, CA @ 9pm
See some shimmy shakin' and enjoy some drinks tonight with the Hubba Hubba Revue: A mix of vaudeville comedy, scantily-clad sexiness, and originality. Tonight is one of the performer's B-day so expect it to be a full house and an extra fun night. Here is the flier: http://www.dnalounge.com/flyers/2011/05/20.html

Friday Night Food Truck Party @ Fort Mason - Marina St. and Laguna St., San Francisco, CA. 5pm-10pm
From Indian Curry to BBQ ribs to cupcakes, this is definitely a place you wanna go to get yo grub on for cheap. Grab a paper-bag beer, a couple of your friends and do what it do.

Peace,

Bitty Boss

Music: Unsung

Pictured above: The late great Minnie Ripperton early in her career.

I think that this is the greatest music documentary series ever!

Sorry, Ken Burns.

Airing every Sunday on the Tv One network, Unsung highlights music greats that may not have gotten the acknowledgement that they deserved when their career was at their height. Some of the artists highlighted are Bootsy Collins, Minnie Ripperton, The Barcays, Stacy Lattisaw, and Donny Hathaway. I am truly addicted to this show because it goes DEEP on how these artists influenced music today.

You have heard these songs before. You may bust a move or two to these songs on your local oldies radio station every day, but you might not have known the name of the person singing.

Do these songs sound familiar? Well take a listen and be inspired. Don't hate me if one of them get stuck in your head for the rest of the day!

Here is the cut-and-paste link to the show's website if you and cable tv aren't on good terms: http://www.tvoneonline.com/shows/show.asp?sid=902

Happy Tuesday!

Oh shyt. Gotta finish my taxes...

Random: You Send Me Swingin'

They really pronounce it "swangin" in the song.

Just one of the many reasons why I love it. This is definitely one of my favorite songs. Takes me back to my black cherry lipstick and waffle boot days of the 90's. I know y'all remember this jam.

I'm Baaaaack!

Just got back from a Thanksgiving in Ukiah, California a few minutes ago. I am dog tired and about to drink a beer and call it a day. I NEED to do my hair though. As I am writing this I have a pre-shampoo treatment on my hair mixed with the following ingredients:

1/8 cup of V05 Kiwi Lime conditioner
1/8 cup of Suave Aloe and Waterlily conditioner
3 tbsp of almond oil
1 tbsp of grapeseed oil
1 tsp amla powder

I will be posting pics of my holiday adventures tomorrow. Stay tuned.

How was your Thanksgiving?

Random: Travie, why are you making me like you?

Travie McCoy.

I never really liked his music much until I heard this song the other day. I did not know that he could sing with his crazy self. I really like the Asian theme and I ALSO admire him for wearin' those sticks in his hair. I will let the video speak for itself:

Random: Plaidturday

My sis and I hit up The City last night and scooted into one of my favorite divealicious bars, The Delirim. A couple of beers and gut-busting laughs later, this unbelivably, barely conscious drunk dude looks us square in the eyes and says, "Don't you know it's Plaidturday?! WHERE'S YOUR PLAID!" Ladies and gentlemen, I regret to inform you that there wasn't a special plaid event happening that night. The monotony of fashion was purely coincidental.

We just figured it was part of the whole hipster get-up. And we were lookin pretty hot that evening so I guess he just felt compelled to say something. He even sent us off with a hearty "Nysccce toooo meejt you.." Don't you just love San Francisco?

Got any weird adventures to share? Please do!

Because life is random, and so am I: An ode to cookie monster...

Oh how I love thee, let me count the ways...He was always my favorite character. With all of the positve energy radiating from Sesame Street with the precious "I Love My Hair" song, I thought I would post a link to a lil' video from my favorite character: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye8mB6VsUHw
