In the midst of the craziness, there will always be music

These past few weeks have been CRAZY! Cash has been tight and I locked my keys in my car today..again. Oh yeah, a special thanks to the two extremely friendly and hunky firemen who helped me out. Well, I guess today hasn't been THAT bad with the eye candy and all.

I have been on full throttle with my job hunt lately which leaves little time to blog when I would like to. But I will be coming up with some goodies for you in the next few weeks, so keep yo peepers open! I have been silently inspired by many things in the past few days and I look forward to sharing them with you in future posts.

Show and Tell: Divine Inspiration

Even though it's only Wednesday , I feel like it has already been a long ass week. Sooo, let's focus on more pleasant things. Pretty things that make us happy need to be discussed.

I get my fashion and beauty inspiration from some interesting ladies throughout history. Because my parents are significantly older than most parents (My dear dad is 77!), I got a lot of inspiration from my dad's music: Songstresses from the 40's swing, 50's doo-wop, 60's lounge, The California "cool jazz" movement, and a hearty helping of 70's funk/soul. So without further ado, I would like to give you a peek inside the fashion sensibility of Bitty Boss. I'm such an old lady.

My Inspirations:


Billie "Lady Day" Holiday - I fell in love with her sultry, smoky voice, and her trademark gardenias. To this day, gardenias are my favorite.


Sarah "Sassy" Vaughan - This lady was one of my favorite singers when I was a child. I had never heard anyone sound so, dare I say it, sexy. We both were chocolate-complexioned, and I had a new beauty muse that I could turn to for inspiration when most of the beauties I saw growing up (the 80's) were of a much fairer complexion.


Cicely Tyson - This woman has such an extraordinary, unique beauty. With her soft-spoken manner and doe-eyes she was an example the sensual beauty that I aspired to be.


Chaka Khan - A fellow Aries, Chaka is sultry and passionate by nature like me. When I first saw that hair, I immediately wanted mine to be that big. She has set the standard to how big my fro wants to be when it grows up. She has such a spicy, eclectic fashion sense and was never afraid to try something new or bizarre. I loved that about her.


Bettie Page - This woman rocked my world when I was a teen. I was drawn to her bold, naughty looks and ways. She was workin' that bad girl swag to the fullest!

Who are some of your fashion/beauty inspirations growing up?

Whether it's $5 Andre or Veuve Clicquot bust it out 'cuz its Valentines Day!

If you are ridin' solo, grab you up some chocolate covered strawberries, take yourself to your favorite restaurant, and hit up a singles party. Make it work ladies! You still got it and you should flaunt it. Wear a sexy perfume and vamp up the make-up. You might even meet the love of your life...or just an amazing shag for the night. Either way, be sinfully magnificent in your presentation at all times. Werk it.

If you are spending it with your beloved, try something unconventional tonight. Be it in bed or out on the town. Watch a live burlesque show together! Sounds innocent, but there is nothing like a few tassels and strategically placed feather fans to get the fire started. Try attending a whisky and chocolate tasting. Whiskey warms the spirit. This I know. And chocolate? Some do say it is better than sex, which you will be having a lot of tonight. This is not negotiable.

Folks, I will let you in on a little secret. I was one of those young girls who was picked on for all SORTS of reasons. I had braces, liked anime (yes, anime) and had to wear a head gear. I was always called strange, weird, odd, you name it.

As I grew into a woman, I ditched the braces and became a swan, but I still very much feel like a complete dork most of the time. But, I have learned to embrace my strange-ness and feel sexy in my odd-ness. An odd-ness goddess if you will.

The TIMELESS Helen Folasade Adu

I almost died a little death when I saw that the one-and-only Sade will be in concert in the Bay Area in 2011. WHAAAAT! Now I know it's early, but I just had to let you in on the news.

I am so upset that my bank account is disagreeing with my heart right now.*sigh* Maybe we will be on better terms after X-mas. From a commercial that I JUST saw on local TV says that the tickets go on sale November 15, 2010.
